Ok So I have this 1.5" Mushroom Polyp that is a real nice color in the acintic and I would like more of them, How do I frag it and get it to survive? And then how do I ge it to attach to a rock without floating all over the place?

There are several ways you can do this. You can cut the cap off the column, and the column will grow a new cap, and the cap a new column, or you can slice pieces off the cap and they will grow.

Some folks use tulle netting to hold the frag in place on a rock until it adheres, I've used a shallow plastic container (like Gladware) with a few holes punched in it, place the frag in there with some coarse substrate (live rock rubble is good for this) and either place it in lower flow where it won't get blown out of the tray, or put some netting over the top with a rubber band and wait for the frag to attach itself. You can then affix that substrate to a larger one - like a rock or larger rubble piece.

you can cut each polyp in fourths, so once you have your whole mushroom cut off the rock cut it long ways down the middle like you were cuttin it open just make sure each half has part of the base, then take each half and cut it down the middle making sure each piece has part of the base and then attch these pieces to your rock or rubble or whatever so you should be able to get 4 frags from each mushroom, you can do a search on yahoo and find the technique let me see if i can find it.

how do I go about getting the Mushroom off the rock. It is on the rock with some star polyps and I dont want to kill anything. Do I cut it outside of the water or do the cuts while it is still in the water for fragging it? Is the mouth the little bump in the middle of the shroom? I have a pic of the rock in my album if you want to see what I am talking about
