So this one is rated for up to 250 Gallons

and this one is only rated for up to 125 gallons

The price difference is pretty big and the cheaper one is for a bigger tank so wouldn't the cheap one be better?

Or what if i go in the middle and get an extreme?

I ditto on the Octopus super reef with cone for a little more money for a superior pump. I hade ben using the MRC in sump with two eductors and the MR4 body, and the SRO was running from the first day as a great idiotproof skimmer. I run both the internal model3000 EXT and the 2000INT models, it would be hard to talk me into going back. I am considering setting up a 70 USG tank with a 30 gal plus a EuroSkimmer (very similar) in-sump skimmer soon for a friend!

That bubble blaster pump on the last one Chris and 08TRD mentioned
has a 3 yr warranty, and looks like 8.5" body. You can't really over match
your skimmer in those price ranges, so always err on the side of not skimping.

I would never get a skimmer with an internal pump like the space saving one you linked

I'm running a 450g rated an a 50 g system.

You will like that skimmer, it is easy for you to put together, it reliable, aggressive, and so long as you have a ATO to keep your sump level steady, it will run from day one. run it on a stand like PVC pipe connectors with about 2 " of water over the bubble plate in the bottom, set your ato up before you set the skimmer in the symp. If you need help setting up, send me a PM and I will photograph my setup for you. runs like a top!

I am the owner of FragtasticReef.com Thank you for referring to my website. I personally prefer the SWC skimmers over the Octopus skimmers depending on what tank size your going to be doing.

There is alot of advantages on skimmers and different makes. If you have any questions feel free to contact me anytime. Any skimmer you choose will be better than not having one, but making the right decision is a big choice and investment. Take Care.
