So heres what's going on my tanks been running for around 2 and half years it's had mabey a 20% water change every 6 months or so because dosing trace eliments and top up with kalk not had any problems everything is growing well.
But I went into a local shop and there display tank is running triton and it looks amazing and no water changes no calcium reactor just 3 liquids every day and every couple of months send a water test to them and they test it on a million pound machine and then they tell u anything that's wrong how to adjust it
Sounds pretty good tbh so I took the plunge and ordered the starter kit witch includes a years supply of liquid for my tank a 4 channel dosing unit 3 mixing drums 3 dosing vessels 4 different macro algae
Today is the first day I turned the dosing unit on so for the next week il check my kh every day and adjust it to 8 buy adjusting the amount I dose triton say start at 10mm per 100 liter then adjust up or down to give your unique dose amount but as your corals grow and use more u up it as u need so check the kh every month
I will update tomorrow
Any input will be appreciated
And will post some up to date pic of the tank tomorrow as well

Ya, Scott Felman I think is his name. He has some great threads on...well, you know where if you know.

Anyways, I think he is bringing the Triton method here to the US from Germany (trying).
I like the the first impressions from it.

I looked up the basic method of it.
Purchase a kit with Test vials ( 3 for $49...6 for $85 i think and so on)
You send off ( postage paid ) your water sample, you get results back of all elements that should be in your DT water and what needs added and or lowered.

You dose 3 items daily, no water changes ( my understanding) and dose fine elements according to there recommendations from the water you send off for random testing.

looks like a joke to me... you are paying $49 (per test) to have someone test your water... while yes that is great that they can test it more accurately than most in the hobby can, Scott comes right out and says it's going to take several tests to get you where you want to be, then you're looking at monthly tests to keep you going... that's a lot of money! I'd suggest you attempt the Rininger method instead, send me all your money and then dose what you'd dose regardless, and I'll use your money to make my tank look beautiful to show off the excellent results of the Rininger method. For more info PM me for where to send the money.

The reason we do water changes is because our filtration is not up to the job and water changes are not affective if u only do 10% your only putting 10% of the trace eliments back unless your salt has 10 times more trace eliments than sea water it's just pointless get a bigger skimmer grow Marco algae and dose triton

Theses are the words from triton at macna

I'd normally test kh once a week to adjust my kalk in my top up and phosphate once a month ph salinity temp monitored by my apex and it got a seneye reef on the tank from when I had t5s to tell when I needed to change bulbs but now I have the radions I don't really check that to often

I'm going to be sending 2 water samples for both test next week so should no what's going on as for test kits I only use the redsea pro kits sand I use redsea coral pro salt just before I started triton I done a 50% water change with 0 tds rodi water from my new 5 stage ro unit i put 3 kh of carbon in my filter sock run that for a couple of days so there shouldn't really be anything up with the water but you never no I emailed triton last night to see what they think just waiting for a reply atm

Spoke to triton and thay sed to stop doing imidiatly wait for the kh to drop to 8 then start dosing 20-30 ml and work my way up so i stopped dosing 2 day ago now going to test my kh tonight se where I stand.

As for there recommend dose level that's something anyone starting triton should not do recommend starting low and build it up like you would do with anything you dose don't just do what it says on the bottle.
