You would be much better off with a differant LED.

 

But would it grow sps and lps?

 

The Mland LED's are underpowered. It can grow some LPS but I would not try any SPS under it. I dont think I would even go with LPS maybe just softies.

Based on collective experiences from other users, that fixture is not good for SPS.

for a 55G to keep SPS, you need about 150W with lens and properly designed LED

Search for that base on that simple suggestion, and report back so that we can comment the ones you find.

A setup could run from $400-$900 depending on brand and model.

 

I agree with Wingo here. You would ideally need something that is running 90 degree optics so that you get the penetration and par requirements on a 48 inch tank. Essentially two pendant lights would do the trick.

 

This fixture is only good for one thing. If you want your aquarium to be yellow.

Check out reefbreeder fixtures. The value led fixture is dimmable, 120 watts, and still under $200. They seem to be competing against the Chinese knockoffs, I'm not sure if they're are Chinese knockoffs or not but they look to be pretty good from the pictures. The LED panel definitely looks better than my Chinese knockoff.
