blue coral ID?

The LFS has an blue coral he calls a "tree". It's not attached to anything yet. The shape reminds me of a a finger leather, does anyone have a idea what it could be? It's going for $20.00, would this be a good price? Would this be a good beginner coral?

Could you describe it a little more? Actually, just to throw a guess out, it could actually be a sponge and not a coral. What are the polyps (if it is a coral) like? How blue is it? Things like that

Thanks Drew, I've finally tracked down what it is, a capnella.

What worries me is that I've read that they have been dyed purple on occasion, could this very pale blue color be a remnant of a purple dye job? And is the fact that it is not attached to rock yet a bad sign?
