Hello everyone!

I was hoping someone could give me some insight into what this is, if it's bad and if I need to somehow get it the heck out of my tank. It looks like some kind of worm in a hard case, it also looks like it sends out some kind of mucas to get food (?) and then brings it back in. Not sure if it's even going to hurt the candy cane coral, I'm sure all of the experts here have the answer. I've attached a picture you should be able to see it on the far left of the coral.

Thanks.

can not quite tell from the pic, but from your description it is a good thing. i can not remember the name right now.:( they are detritus removers. will not harm the coral. they just use cast nets to catch any plankton/detritus floating by. it is a type of worm.

Nothing to worry about!:)

This is probably a Vermetid gastropod. It is a harmless, sessile snail that captures detritus and plankton with a mucus trap. They form calcareous tubes that project them out into the water column.
