Well, I got my MH's today.... but that's not the real good news...

Tomorrow they start digging the foundation for my house... Starting 1 1/2 weeks early!!!

Finally!!! After all this money dumped into it, I'll at least have a very expensive hole in the gound where my very expensive dirt was...

Ok.... built a quick Ghetto hood for my MH and it's running!!

WOW, what a difference... It makes the good stuff look great, but the bad stuff worse... :-/

Still need to figure out a way to install the 2x55 PC's...

OK, OK.....

Here's the hood closed... My wife thought she was Miss Trading Spaces and decided to buy one of those cheapo fiberboard wall closets and paint it... the paint peeled right off, so she didn't want it... (Perfect siding for a ghetto hood...)

Here's the inside... I still need to mount the 2x55 PC's, but it's very cramped in there... I may have to mount them diagonally across the sides....

Hehe... now that's the 'ghetto-ist' of the ghetto hoods I've ever seen.

Lookin good there Buzz.
You might also try mounting the halide from side-to-side rather than front-to-back which will give you a bit more room to run the PC's across the top.
If you mount them diagonally you'll really only be getting one half of the tube shining down to the water unless you rig up some sort of ghetto reflector system (a couple rolls of tin-foil).

I agree about the difference in lighting... I just upgraded from PC's only to a PC/Halide combo and it's a huge difference.
The corals like it much better too.

The shimmer lines from the halide are also pretty soothing... kinda like a psychedelic lightshow.
