Will a Dogface Puffer nip corals???

The title says it all..

I'm looking for a tankmate for my Lionfish... Since the Lion is somewhat reef friendly, I'd like to add a couple corals at some point to spruce up the tank a bit...

it doesnt look like its reef safe... i usually check on liveaquaria.com for compatability.. not sure how accurate these guys are tho... here is a link to the dogface puffer..

I had a Valentine Puffer in my reef tank for over a year! It did a little nipping at corals but over all did no real damage! Enclosed is a pic of the one I had:

Buzz Dogface puffers are not considered reef safe according to what I have read. :)
Is it because they eat coral? Or it it because they like to munch on the cleanup crew?
They will do both buzz!:(
BH,,,go figger, i was watching a PBS Nova show last night, it had a good sized puffer along the lines you want to get,,,eating up hard corals like they wuz candy canes,,,,
just to let ya know,,,,

Bh, IMO and experiences,,,,,only place fer a tang is in a reef tank,so it can "graze" ALL day.i would never subject a tang to a FO or mebbe even a FOWLR tank. as a diver/ex-collector-prior LFS owner, all the many tangs i've seen on da reefs, spent their time :
feeding,pooping , feeding , making lil tangs,feeding,pooping , feeding,feeding,,,repeat,,,,ya get the point,,,,;)
tangs have a short digestive tract, food in, fast out,a normal FO tank will never,IMO ,give a tang enuf food availabilities to survive for long term,,,
just my opinion/experience,,,
my tangs in my reef tank do well, due to being inna reef tank , plus the fact that i also feed them like there is no tommorow,,,
just trying to help bro!:D
I hear ya Jeff... So, here's the question.... My house won't be ready until Nov.... At that time all hell breaks loose... ;)

Anyways, I eventually want to attempt a reef tank with my lionfish in it... THAT would make for one hell of a display... With that said, I'm not one for wet furniture and am looking for a responsible setup... Any ideas?

P.s. Did ya find the avatar I made for ya???
