Why No Emails?

681 Views 14 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Brooke
I know this is probably not the right place for this question but it used to be that when you responded to a thread you were automatically "subscribed" so that if anyone else responded (to your response) you would get an email. These emails have stopped - anyone know why? Am I doing something wrong????

go to user cp on tool bar just below TRT Logo, then select edit options, scroll down to messages, there is a box to select whether you want email notification to replies, make sure its checked :)
I do get emails if it is a thread that I posted myself. But I don't get emails if I reply to someone elses thread and then someone replies after me......

By the way Doug- I am still having terrible Ick problems. I think it is because the tank is having a temperature shift of 3 degrees. It only gets up to 81-82 degrees during the peak and drops to about 79-80 but the fish are COVERED in white spots. I have lost the hippo tang and a couple of other little tykes so far. The Gramma and the Flame are eating really well but are really dotty. I thought about putting a couple of the fans onto the same time schedule as the lights but I am afraid that will build up too much humidity in the cabinet (without the air circ) and the water will get warmer still....I might try tonight....other option is a heater in the sump to keep temp constant at 82? Waddaya think??? I am feeding food dosed with garlic to no avail......ALL corals look great.
I would try keeping the temp fluctuations at a min. THat and give it time to readjust after the switch over
odd.. been happening to me latley too. i've only been getting emails for one thread, instead of all the threads i posted too. not a big deal, since i half live here anyway :D just something i noticed.

HMMM,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I've been noticing this as well, but I assumed it was because I had left my browser window open while logged in to TRT. I figured that it would only send e-mail notifications if you weren't actively logged into to the bulletin board, but it appears that it could be a problem with the BBS software.
I'm not sure but I think if you use "quick reply" you won't get an email. If you use the normal reply button you will.
I think rwd is right.:)
That makes sense... I use the quick reply unless I'm posting a picture...
Then again, I hardly leave this place so I usually don't need an e-mail to tell me about replies. :D
Ah that makes sense, needless to say I have turned off subscribe and email reply, otherwise I would never get thru all of it ;)
OK OK - I'll reply the "long" way from now on so I can keep in touch.
Regarding the "Ick" problem. If you think it is connected to the temperature flux, then set your heater to the maximum temperature the tank gets(82 is not a dangerous temp for the summer time). You can control the temperature fluxuations. Also if the "Ick" is as bad as you lead on...then maybe you should remove the fish for 3 months or so. Let the system go with out a host so that the parasites die off. Your fish will suffer irrevearsble harm to thier gills by allowing it to persist.
Toadfish - see my PM regarding my terrible ich. I think it is beyond hope. I don't think I can quarantine my fish. It is soo sad. THey don't look good AT ALL! Temp is now stabilized at 82. Hope this will help with the few healthy fish left.......now just playing the waiting game on the others.......aaaaak
the problem with quick reply has been fixed. Sorry...it took awhile to figure out what the cause was.
