I own a mag model 2 and they are right on the money with gph however fyi they have screws that rust( I was told by the manu on the phone that the rust is so minimal that it matter but it raised cation for me..). Also mines set up 2 feet below my tank and works perfectly with my overflow. You can always put on a check valve to slow it up in case you wanna get a bit of extra power.

I have ran a mag 5,7,9,12 and an eheim 1250 and a 1260. Personally.....the eheim has more head pressure and ran quiter for me. It really is a matter of taste....but Eheim did it for me. They are well made pumps and they stand behind their product. Mag drives are good too, they just arent (imo) as well made as an eheim. You will hear others say the exact opposite.....but I doub't they have tried 4 mag drives and two ehiem's....

I had a Mag 7 on my 75 gallon tank and after I split the return off for two reactors, it did not have the turnover rate I wanted. I put a Eheim 1262 on it and it works fine. The Eheim is quieter. Both seem to be well made. I prefer the Eheim over the Mag. It does cost quite a bit more however.
