Well I've always heard its possible but never had it happen. I purchased a hammer coral a few months back and it done well for about a week. Then it just up and died. This was the second time that's happened to me.

Anyways, I've always heard not to take dead coral skeletons out even after there's no sign of life. I've heard it's possible for them to randomly come back.

Well I've got proof. This hammer coral had been dead for almost a month and a half now. The stalk was completely smooth when it initially died. Well now it has two little sprouts at the base but only one I can see actual hammer polyps. Glad I didn't throw it out. Hopefully it will grow big.

Here's a very crappy picture

I was always skeptical especially after loosing my plate about 3 months ago. It's still in there and no baby's. But that whole time was a dark time in my reef keeping days. Glad to say I'm past them and my tank is recovering nicely.

Yeah I don't know what happened to this coral initially. I've had 2 so far and both died. The first was shortly after I got my tank so I blame myself. Everything else is doing fine

I was just shocked it happen with mine. Usually I have terrible luck. I'm going to try and pick up another torch today and see how that goes. If it doesn't go well I may give up on LPS

Got an update here on the hammer coral. The head is much bigger now and the very tiny one is a little bigger also. The stalk got pushed in the rock but it seems to be doing well so I just left it here's a pic

Here's a pic of the candy cane in the second pic I posted. Didn't really realize it had grown much either. The head on the right is splitting
