I have a 4 month old tank and i am seeing a lot of insects at night crawling on the rocks and sand. Some of them are now about 5mm long. I am just wondering if everything is okay.

Everything is fine.
They're good to have. They eat algae, left over fish food, and poo. They are also a very good food sourse for your fish.

also your nitrates are getting a little high, depends on what you have in the tank. That being said what do you have for livestock in the tank?

normal. in most cases by about the 6-8 month mark the population of them will settle out. most tanks have a big bloom in the first 6 months of being setup.
