that's freakin sweet!!

what pump do you have on it to be able to puch through all the bends?

i'm nervous about turning my new 75 into swiss cheese, so i'm goign to do a similar cls on the bottom of the tank, but my return pump will be in the bottom of my corner overflow, so there will be less head pressure, and i wont have the pvc coming over the top of the tank. but there will still be plenty of bends.

also what size pvc is that.. 1" ?
last question. what are on the exits? are those pvc plugs, with a hole drilled in them?

that sure was funny inviting me up, and then having me help you drain your tank, remove your live rock and corals, build you the first one, and then help reassmble everything:funny: but the coral frags and generous hospitality was rewarding enough:) don't forget to show here in about 3~4 weeks, to tear down my 2 tanks and set my 75...:evil laff:
jay, tpeck had a rio 1700 plumbed up made from 5/8 pvc. the drilled plugs make it work well with the rio pump.

that 75 looks a lot like a kids pool, and I think the closed loop spray bar is supposed to be in your "75" pool not beside it.:D :funny:

a shot of tank with CL installed

I showed you the B4, this is the after. I will pick up a couple of more bags of LS to hide the ports better. I think in a matter of 2 to 3 months they should coralline up pretty good.

tpeck - what size pump are you going to run this with? I've been looking for options for my 46 and I think you've given me the best one short of a bunch of holes.

Thanks, we played a little with the design of the end of the ports. 1st we tried no end caps, not enough backpressure to inject a stream. Then we covered different end caps in different combinations to see different flow patters. We then came up with the idea of "we need bigger tools" scrambled in the garage and found a variety of drill bits and drill. I picked the 1st bit half the size of the end cap. Drilled it down just about 3 mm from cutting all the way, and then grabbed a bit about a 4th of the size and center drilled. We thought this would give a v-shape flow pattern out of ports.

As you can see more improvisation then science

I have a quick question...
Just out of curiosity... Was there a specific reason why the closed loop inlets overhang the back of the aquarium, rather than having them plumbed inside the tank?
I'd just hate to see that t-fitting separate and your pump happily empty 1/4 of the tank water onto the floor... or even worse... the siphon generated from the side that breaks loose could empty the whole tank...
Otherwise, it's looking good... so good in fact that Jay even copied you! (just kidding Jay ;) ).
