Hello everyone, I could use some expertise on my water. I have an issue that i can not wrap my mind around. i tested my water today and have three issues and would love any feedback
1) pH 8.1- not too bad
2) dKH 15.1- Too high
3)calcium 520 ppm- Way too high

Any ideas as to what would cause this. I have a 120 gal tank, 35 gal sump, skimmer, I rarely have had to add calcium as it is mainly a fish only tank but with a couple of softies.

Calcium level isn't off the chart. the dkH should be retested and then tested by your lfs. Perhaps it's human error or test kit error. Before jumping to conclusions, RETEST.

Stay current with water changes. this will help level things out as well.

Thank you, I have retested and even went out and bout new test kits yesterday but you are right I am taking it to my LFS. I will be reading the articles you sent thatnk you again

If you are not adding anything for calcium or alkalinity, your levels cannot be that high.

Are you dosing anything at all into the tank?

What's your salt level?
