well i have recently run into a.....huge problem... My biocubes actintic ballast has either short circuited or decided to not work. I looked at it and found that the exterior covering had split apart in one spot. Any ideas on what to do....i have called the biocube number but i keep getting an awnsering machine.

it is probably a standard ballast of some kind. if you know the bulb type you can find a ballast at HD or Lowe's that would work as a replacement. having not seen where the ballast is located, you may need to jury rig it externally, but finding a ballast that would work should not be that difficult.

Loverotties it is still under warranty...and i will see if hd or lowes has any.

If it's under warranty, try you rbest to get in touch with the manufacturer before you open it up. That might void the warranty.

Beginner question: I see a lot of chatter about ballasts (failure and stability issues). Is this something that is fairly common?
