My tuxedo urchin didn't seem to be moving around as much as he used to, so I've been keeping an eye on him. Fearing he was dead I did an ammonia test that came up zero. This morning he was still alive, moved off the bottom about a half inch up the glass. This afternoon, there were two nassarius snails crawling on him. I moved him over to a holding bin and noticed that many "spines" were missing. I gave him a sniff:drool: and he smelled like fish, not bad at all. Do you think he's toast???

I've had him well over a month. As I recall I acclimated him for about a half hour adding more tank water a bit at a time, the way the LFS told me.

if the LFS or even the distributor before you did not acclimate them properly they could have had internal damage. :( this is fairly uncommon in most urchins though, but if the S.G. was different enough than it could have dooomed the urchin from even before you got it. this can take several weeks to show up.

do you have enough for it to eat in the tank?
