Hey all,

My LFS has a great deal on live rock, (1.99lb) and I was wondering if I should take advantage of this? Currently, I have 200lbs of live in my 220 and wouldn't mind maybe 50-100lbs more. The draw back is, I have had the tank up for about five months and it's doing really well, along with three fish, a yellow tang, a kole tang and a diamond goby. I'm worried I might spike the ammonia and kill something if I just add the rock, but I'd love more rock to stack coral higher when the tank is even more established. So, what do you all think, to add or not to add? And if the verdict is add, then how do I do it, the fastest, cheapest and safest way?

Thanks everyone.

Hmm, I never thought of it like that. My idea was more rock to stack higher for the corals that like to be near the top. But if it in anyway could damage what I all ready have, then I’ll probably not add it.

Thanks for all your suggestions!

I will probably do that, do I need to cook the live that is in a sense cooked all ready? The rock is a great quality and has been in my LFS's holding tank for months. I'll try and upload some pictures later, but I do kind of want to add maybe 50lbs more to the middle.

Yeah, sounds good, I'll have to do that. No hair algae, and oddly, the rock doesn't really have an odor to it. I talked to the LFS about some of the pieces, and apparently they broke down a 600 gallon a couple of days ago and don't have room to keep all the rock. A lot of it sold pretty quickly.
