So I got my portable refractometer from dr foster smith today....





How do you use it!?!?!:drool:

put a little ro/di water on the plastic thing to check if it needs to be calibrated. Once its calibrated put a little tank water on there.

It's not really making sense to me

Put a couple of drops of di water on the glass and close the cover, hold it up to bright light and look through......then turn the eyepiece to bring the numbers in to focus.....Read the SG. Should be 1.0....Repeat w/ salt water if its calibrated, which it should be.

Once you get used to it, you will be quite happy you got one.....they are great

dont forget to clean it good each time you use it. never ever use somethign ruff on the front sight piece

I usually run mine under my RO drinking water faucet to get the salt off, then dry it w/ whatever shirt I'm wearing.....So yeah, a T shirt is fine

I hadn't wondered this until I reread the original post..HMMmmmm
