I got a shipment in yesterday from Jeff's Exotic Fish. Then sat in horror as my ****-sel and mated pair of Clarkii Clowns proceeded to kill the six-line wrasse and try to kill the solar wrasse. The solar wrasse got himself hidden in the rock well enough that they left him alone...

Tonight when I got home, I'd had it with the bullies. I ripped the tank apart. I got out the ****-sel...we'll see how tough he is with George (my mantis shrimp :p ). I took a BTA and the clowns into the LFS and brought home a pair of true percs. Dropped off another BTA at a fellow reefers.

My tank has been completely re-aquascaped. The tank is peaceful. The solar wrasse has been making short excursions....still not believing that his tormentors are not still there. I'm down to one BTA (thank God!)....considering I'm allergic to them.

I have so much room to fill again. About a third of my tank was being taken up my anenomes and with the new arrangements, I have new places for corals.

All in all it was a heck of a job, but I am glad I got it done....:D:D:D

My damsels are Banned Form The Bowfront and now reside in a 10 gallon holding tank awaiting whatever fate i decide for them....which, stupid overemotional me, they will prolly end up with a tank of their own for the rest of their lives which is nice and spacious and yet another PITA for me to have to take care of all because i don't want to send them back to the LFS for fear that someone might buy them to use for cycling....

anyone else like this, you have a critter, you don't particularly like it and it dosen't particularly like you, but you can't get rid of it or give it away cause as much as you don't like it, you at least know its being taken care of under your roof...?
it must be that responsibility chip my mom programmed into me "Its a living thing and when you took it home you made it your job to take care of untill it reaches the end of its life-cycle; no exceptions"

(not that i think trading in critters is bad for anyone else to do (specially if there's an alergy involved!)- but i can't get past my own conscience over it..sometimes i wish i could....Anyone want a pair of cranky Cockatiels? ;) )

sorry, its late and i'm babbling and maybe this sounds like i'm saying something i'm not....i'm just rambling... :)

Jodi,

Your trials and tribulations are sooo funny at times. You picked up some percs! I would think you would have given up on the clowns now after all the trials they give you. Good luck with all the new room!

I had a convict blenny that escape into the reef and proceeded to build 12 condos a night with crashing LR on a regular basis I had to pull out 190lbs of LR to get it out. That convict got about 9" long I took it to the LFS and made money on it, somebody snatched up the next day. Unfortunatly my lionfish wasn't big enough at the time to eat that noodle.

Hey Jodi, Glad to hear you have more room. Between you and John you guys can help me finally get rid of all of the frags in my sand bed.

I am happy to say my Solar Fairy Wrasse is also doing well(Jodi and I were in on the same order). He is a little picked on in the 90 but at least he is big enough not to get eaten by the eel. Sadly the yellow coris was dead when I started floating the bag. I went through the acclimation just in case but it was dead as a door nail.

My Lionfish hasn't eaten my ****-sels yet... He did decide to snack on my cinnamon clown though... :-/

If he doesn't get them by this evening, they are finding themselves a new home in my buddies tank...

I like ****-sels.....they're pretty when they're juveniles....but they can get so menacing....

My main reef tank is such a peaceful place now. Percs bobbing around in the current. Clown gobies lighting from one coral to the next. Coral Beauty swimming gracefully from one end to the other. Neon dottyback darting through the rocks. I know the dottybacks are supposed to be nasty, but my neon came from ORA and is pretty mellow. He asserts him dominance over his "territory," but doesn't go for the kill like the ****-sels and Clarkii's were.

The solar fairy wrasse is looking much better. I even teased him out with some Selcon-soaked mysis. His little belly is round and his color is improving every minute.

Everyone seems much happier and relaxed. Ahhh....this is the way it's supposed to be......the aquascaping even looks better.
