I have had 2 pumps lock up on me in 4 months...the first was a mag drive pump...rated @ 2600gph I had it 2 months and it locked up....then I was in despiration and went to lowes and got a 2000gph pump and last night it locked solid....what is the best pumps that won't do this??? also seems if you unplug them they don't start right back up????

i do not know alot about pumps, but if i am correct the mags are not a self priming pump if ran externally. The pump from lowes probably was not for saltwater and that could of been why it locked up. but im just guessing maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in and help

I Put Them In The Sump Submerged.

Joe, go with a external pump either Little Giant or Iwaki are probably the best.
If you don't want to drill the sump, and I wouldn't, you can go up and over with the plumbing. Just go at least one size bigger on the 'suck' side of the pump with the plumbing.
Ex: if it has a 3/4 inch intake, I would go with at least 1 inch or 1 1/4"
