oh my that one looks like its going to explode~!
the snail looks like it is doing the other thing to me.;) my Nassarious snails lay single egg blobs spaced about an inch apart in a line about a foot long.

G~
I have the same problem with my cerith snails. Little white 'blobs' on the glass every day - probably 'the other thing' :D
CAT-cerith snails lay really long wavy looking egg masses. kinda like a really curvy road that keeps turning back on itself.

G~
Here's what my cerith did today

Isn't it cool! Will the fish eat it?

in the 2 yrs my tank has been up i have yet to see snail eggs....

i think mine are "fixed"
Now I know those are eggs and the fish will pick them off the glass as I have witness this several times!:)
See that coral right behind it?

Im going to move that up next to the glass to protect the eggs. I guess I got lucky that she layed so close to the bottom. I've had my tank for 3 months and almost killed everything 2 days ago...SG spike. Obviously, things are better for the critters now. Next, I'll need to find out about how long these babies will take to hatch. Maybe I'll do a photo sequence.....

odds are not many will survive.....they will become food in your tank

this all depends on what you have in the tank. all the fish i have could not care less about the eggs on the glass. they stay all the way to hatching. i must have a couple hundred micro ceriths on the SB now. all of the fish in the tank are either herbivores or water column feeders, do not have nay micro-predators.

even at this tiny size you can tell which species of snail they are by the speed at which they move. the nass. just book, no matter what size they are.:D

now my snails go bonkers whenever my ph gets above 8.2, have a slight ph problem that i am now nailing down. i have eggs all over the rocks and glass.

G~
I do know my damsels had no problems picking off the snail eggs on the glass in no time!:)
Interesting on the pH and the explosion of snail eggs, Geoff.
My,my,my......they HAVE been busy :D

Here's my cerith "making babies" again. Yesterdays clutch is that white mass on the right. I put a coral up close to it to keep fish away.

it is pretty strange. my tank will not get above 8.1 for a while sometimes until i refill the Kalk reactor. when i finally do the pH will climb up above 8.2 then all the snails start a lying. i will get the nass. first, then the ceriths.

like i said my snails are "fixed"
