I have a Generic (!?!) skimmer on my 75G reef, and up til recently hadn't had nearly enough flow through it to make a difference.

HOwever, I through a MAG-7 through the sucker, and now WHAMMO, I'm getting more foam than ever before. But, my question comes to water level in the skimmer. I have a ball valve on the exit of the skimmer, (Venturi type), and can lift the water level up to the neck if I want to, or drop it down to it's lowest, which is about 2.5" from the neck.

What are you opinions?

Set it to where you get a nice dry skimmate... Which is prob a lower setting for you...

Is this a venturi-type skimmer? If so, you also may need to adjust the amount of air to the venturi. Once you get the water level where you want it, close the air valve all the way and then open it just a fraction at a time, waiting a little bit between turns to judge the effect.
