I woke up today and saw that both of my percs are dead. How the hell did that happen, im so mad. My maroon and tomato are fine, should i be scared? My salt level on my gravity tester is 1.024, little high, but should be ok right? What should i do, im so scared. I know im gonna wait for a very long time now, but what should i do now? get some kind of medicine or what? I know one of the percs had a white zit or something like that on the side of his head, but why would both percs die at same time, the other perc was fine. Im so confused. If they all die, i dont know what to do. Either stop this hobbie, or just wait a very long time. But in another thread i said there was white bloches of stuff on my live rock, could this be a factor? Now my maroon is hiding and not coming out, my last maroon did that also, and died. :( Should i test the levels? I never have before, but i guess im willing now, i dont want to spend that money and see my beautiful fish just die like that. My powerhead did break yesterday, and i had to buy a new one, it was like a day, before i could get one. I fed them all yesterday, the percs ate like there was no tomarrow, could this be by the maroon? They did start to have their fins niped at pretty good. Sorry for long post, just i want to vent.

Thanks

you should ALWAYS test the parameters!!! at the first sign of anything going worng, first thing i do is pull out the test kits.

fin nipping, well that's a sure cause of stress.

2 percs, a maroon, and a tomato in one tank is another sure bet there will be stress.

i vote for the maroon killing off the percs, or at least stresseing them enough that they died. and now he's hiding cuz he know he did wrong, kinda like a dog that pees on the carpet.

i'd still test water asap.

the white blotches on the rock, chances are they are not related, sounds more like something snacking on the corraline. though, if you get bad test results, then it could be related, jsut in a different way.. bad water.

Describe the white blotches a little more. Does it look like the corraline is bleaching and flaking off (sometimes this looks like it is rotting off). If so you might have a cycle going on in that tank. Like Jay said test them params....first sign of trouble you might need to pull the fishy's out and find a home for em while your tank stabalizes (and you find the source).

i guess that makes sence, but they werent nipping at eachother till like 3 days ago, ive never seen them dart at eachother, even at night, im up till like 3 in the morning and never see them dart at eachother, the white stuff looks like paste, kind of just there. Is this calcium? (worth a shot)

Thanks
