Back from the marine aquarium expo with 5 new frags!

I got:

More sympodium. I got it for the same price as my last frag but 5X the amount. :) This time its Indonesian but I got good advice on lighting and flow from the guy who grew it.
Two new acans. One bood red with a bit of purple and the other is an easter themed acan: lavender outside with dark pink and electric pink. these were pricy but worth it
A 4 headed duncan for $15! :D
and an acropora millepora for $5. Its my attempt at SPS. Its only 5$ with the possibility of being awesome!

Some pics

Here are some pics of my new frags from MAX.

Lets start with my new frag of Sympodium. Note the size difference between my old frag and my new one. They were the same price.

Next up is my Duncan and Aropora

.

And last but not least my two new Ultra Acanthastea's

With everything mounted its time for a photoshoot.

Full tank shot.

Right Side.

Closeup of the Monastrea and the Easter Acan. Color is from outside to inside. lavender, turquoise, orange-red, electric orange. AMAZING.

And for a left side shot. the Duncan is so much greener in person.

I also bought some crazy phosphate absorber (ROWA phos) and a small micron bag to put it in. I put about 50mL of the reddish carbon looking substance in the micron bag and zip tied it shut. I want to rid my tank of the uglies or at lease minimize this phase.

I spent a few hours scraping and scrubbing my LR and walls of hair algae and want it totally gone. I did a PO4 test and it came back 0 but I knew it was all bound up in the algae. I removed as much as I dared and am now in the slow process of raising my ALK to 11 and my Mg to 1600. This will kill the algae (in theory) and my phosphate absorber will gobble up the free phosphates now that they are in the water column. Wish me luck!

Also this is the final placement for mostly everything. No more room for new frags, time to let it grow!

Very nice indeed!

Thanks for posting on mine. Your corals look fantastic.

I missed the expo. Went to Aquarium of the Pacific for ideas. What a joke that was. Packed too.

Looks like the jug is an ATO? How does that work?

The ATO consists of this

5G jug of RO/DI water.
Tom Aquatics Aqua lifter.
Float swtich: you can just barely see it to the left of the center support. Its wired into the plug of the tom aquatics aqua lifter which is hidden behind the center support. When the level of the sump gets to low, the float switch turns to on and tops off the sump to keep the level constant.

Awesome tank! After looking through your thread at all the equipment and healthy critters, I see an upgrade in your future. You're gonna outgrow that 55 in no time. LOL

Also I plan to perfect this 55. Get it to magazine quality. I know thats a high standard but if you aim high.... U guys surprised this is my first reef tank?

Picked up some awesome zoas today. One is Green with purple irises and pink pupils. I also picked up a second kind of sympodium (its alot darker) and a leptoria that is really awesome.

I'm going to be doing some rearranging tomorrow so everything will fit properly.

Pics tomorrow?
