I have a 5 stage RO system that I replaced the filters 2 weeks ago. Ever since the replacement, the water just tastes salty compared to how it was before. I even tried to taste my tap water. Ironically, it is actually not as salty as my drinking water that filtered thru the RO system. Using the TDS meter, I got 107 from tap water. RO system is 200. Old water sample before RO filter replacement is 78. I tried to turn off the pressure tank and the water TDS runs at 134. What am I doing it wrong here? I even tried to drain out all the water in the pressure tank. But after the tank is filled again, the water sample still runs at 215.

This is my first time replace the filters. Did I screw something up? I replaced all the filters except membrane filter. Before then, I always have the company come to replace the filters for me. They charge me around 230 or so each year and the membrane filter was not replaced since 2010.

What should I do now?

Did you follow any instructions about flushing the new cartridges? When I got my RODI system, I had to flush the carbon filter (without the membrane or the DI filter installed) to get rid of any "loose" carbon dust. My guess is it's something like that...

I checked and compared to the installation manual. It seems correct.

So I ran another test again today. I turned off the water supply and just drain from the pressure tank, it red at 137. Tap water 107. If water supply and both pressure tank are on, it read at 178.

Should I just reconnect everything?

What brand is it? You might want to contact the manufacturer, send them a pic if hownits hooked up, they can probably tell you if it's correct or not. And if it is what might be causing the issue.
