Ok so I am switching over to a refugium and need to finalize my return pump decision. Currently running my 120 gallon with 2- maxi jet 4500. They are rated at 1,240 gph so I'm figuring around 1,ooo at 4 foot. With the new set up, I want to only run 1 pump.
A) Do I run one of the maxi jets and split it off to both return lines?
or
B) Purchase an external pump rated for approx. 1,600 gph?
I need to take into consideration that whatever pump is going to be used, the waterflow that will be sucked back into the sump to fast for the refugium?
Does that make sense? I can't use too big of a pump or the water will be carried across the refugium too fast and not get cleaned. I know I can ball valve the output, but the pump still pulls the water back in at the standard flow.
Any ideas?
