I am looking to add a Goby or Blenny.....something to clean and stir the substrate...not sure if it is too early or not...I currently have....

90 gal......approx 4 mos. old......many, many amphipods, copepods etc.
1 Foxface
2 highfin cardinals
2 small pacific blue tangs ( 1 will be moving to the new tank)
2 med percula clowns
1 royal gramma
1 sand sifting star
2 sand cucumbers
2 cleaner shrimp
multiple hermit crabs
Multiple SPS,LPS and soft corals

Water params all good

Had a nitrate spike to about 10 a few weeks ago....due to laziness on the water changes.....I know, I know....I learned my lesson on that.....

Just wondering what the best addition would be........

I would love a cool looking one......have looked a lot but just getting confused

Thanks !!

Possibly stated wrong ?

Not worried....just have always had it at 0......don't want to overload the system w/new additions......but would like to add a substrate living creature.......

Wanted to find a safe one for my system, and a cool looking one if possible.

BTW small crushed coral substrate......about 3"

Thanks again,

Buzz,
I thought my tank would be too young for that.....according to everything I read....it should be at least a year.....I would love one..but want to make sure it will survive, It seems that a lot of the pods hang out in caves in the rockwork also......not sure how to tell if they are in the substrate or not.

At night they are all over it, running around......lots of little shrimp looking things, many many amphipods, If I move substrate from under the base rock, I will get colonies living in the holes......

Ray,

I was thinking of one.....maybe it is a blennie, that digs the sand with it's mouth and then spits it back out of it's gills.....not exactly sure what they are called.......

So....does anyone know the names of the ones that sift the sand....a sand sifting blennie ?....'sides the Mandarin of course....

I wonder how you know if your tank has enough pods for a mandarin

I know my tank is full of em...have had a hard time counting though
