Recieved my Refractometer

I ordered it from My Reef Creations(great deal BTW). My hydrometer was reading the specific gravity at .023. When I used the refractometer it shows a specific gravity of .027! Wow a huge difference. At first I thought, "Man this thing is way off". But then I realized that it's my hydrometer that has prolly been off all along. I slowly have brought the SG to .025 per the refractometer. What do you guys think? Is there much of a margin of error w/ the refractometer, surely it is more accurate than the hydrometer? Thoughts?

I got my refractometer a couple of months ago and same thing 1.027. I had a friend check my water with his refractometer and same result. It didn't seem to make any difference to anything in the tank so my guess is that this probably happens in areas of the ocean also. (especially in bays and lagoonal areas)
Be sure to calibrate the refracto per the instructions before relying on it. Mine was off quite a bit when I first got it.

Is it ok to calibrate these with RODI water or MUST you use distilled water?
Thanks Andy, the one I got from you is working great! It was right on, out of the box...
