Hello. I'd like to know where to purchase Dowflake online. The links from older posts do not work. Also, I've been dosing ESV B-ionic. Does Randy's recipe when mixed properly equal the same dosing amount? Thanks for your help.

I had trouble finding Dowflake as well. I ended up using Prestone Driveway Heat instead. The BRS calculator works for making the solutions.

I am simply terrified of adding anything to my tank that does not have a picture of a fish on the label :)

I think dowflake did come out with a warning against using it for aquariums as they can not verify its purity... whatever it might have in it that is impure could be a big issue.

Randy's "recipe" is a bit problematic. Significant dosages without MASSIVE water changes can lead to sodium and chloride building up over time and contributing to you marine water becoming more of a brine solution. Basically, "two-part" is a better name than we thing... it is not just Alk and Ca... it is Sodium and Chloride as well and that can only be removed via significant water changes which kinda defeats the purpose of a lot of folks dosing as most do not say MORE water changes are needed to use the method.

here is tdwyatt breaking it down:
