Im getting a sweet deal on a CPR BakPak2R the reef version The thing is I need a non reef version. Could I still us some bio filter with it and get away with this unit on my Fish and liverock 30 gallon?

No need to use the bio stuff when you have the live rock. You will be fine without it

Check back after you get it and I can walk you through the two best mods I did on mine and made it skim like a champ.

Yea i have a BAK-PAK 2 on on my 75 gallon reef with the air pump mod to make more bubbles and the mesh mod on the impeller of the maxi jet to produce more/finer bubbles. It like a BAK-PAK on steriods.. But i know that the mesh mod put some stress on the MJ. I used to empty my skimmer cup about once a week and the skimmate was ok but with the mods i empty the cup once EVERY 2 days and it STINKS sooo bad!!!
