I run a 1.1kva and a 500va ups of my main tank. word of caution do not run high end lighting or over driven ballast on a ups it will trip the breaker. You can build a system in stages but keep in mind the danger of saltwater and ups batteries. even though they are sealed then still can produce a combination of deadly gas that will drop you before you even knew what happen.

I just grab a tube and blow bubbles into the tank... but that is the cheap solution. if the power is out for more than an hour or 2 i would be looking at a generator (wouldn't want my popsicles to melt!)

Unless you convert the pump to 12V the heat from the inverter kills the bats. I have one 1000va batteries that I need to find a 5v VR to run an air pump for days on end.
