Hi TRT,

I just purchased my first clam. It is an ultra blue maxima and seems to be acclimating to it's new home pretty well. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid, but does the mantle look ok? I'm concerned with the right side. Any help will be appreciated.

It is declining. The shell has opened wider but mantle not extending outside of the shell

How long did you do the dip for?
Same temp as your water?
Did you shake the clam to try to get as much as the fresh water through the clam?

Most likely mantle disease is a protozoa
Boy, would like to get hold of some tissue to do a positive ID on that protozoa..

Two main anti protozoal drugs..
Metronidazole
Praziquantel

Both are available for reef tanks

I Believe metro has been tried in this disease with limited success
Should use these in a QT for your clam if you want to consider
