Heh! did you now that these creatures have extant relatives as far back as the Cambrian era? (540 million years ago) Over 5000 extant species have been described, making them the dominant organism in most marine environments. There are NO fw species, and only a few known estuary species. They have evolved exxclusively in full strength (35 ppt) seawater and have almost no tolerance for changes in salinity.
