Hello all, I am looking to tackle my first reef/saltwater tank. I've been doing alot of research and I know what I have to do to accomplish my goal. The only issue I am debating is my options for a protein skimmer.......

I have the opportunity to get a AquaC Remora Pro for basically free from a friend. Will this be too big for my tank or will it work fine?
I was planning on getting the new Remora-S in the first place then I found out my friend had a pro I could have.

On another note this is how I plan to set my tank up
-29g tank and stand(have)
-HOB Skimmer (Need advice on the top question)
-HOB ref. retrofitted aqua-clear filter(have filter already)
-150w Heater(have)
-3 Power heads, Trying to go for about 30-50 turn over(hydor?)
-Coralife compact fluorescent lighting, 65W actinic, 65W 10,000k, 2 lunar LED(have) on a timer
-45-50lb live rocks
-live sand? yes or no? how much?
-coral, mostly soft and mushrooms
-2 clowns
-a few gobbies
-maybe a possum wrasse
-Clean up crew maybe 25 small hermits, snails, shrimp ect.

-all other smaller necessary saltmixes, testing equipment, QT tank, eventually a RO/DI system.
I personally like the way smaller tanks look. For my situation a smaller tank is best.

so my overall question is can I use a AquaC Remora Pro on this 29G or is that to big?

Thanks,
Mike

I was planning on getting the new Remora-S in the first place then I found out my friend had a pro I could have. No not to big,but not a great choice!

On another note this is how I plan to set my tank up
-29g tank and stand(have)
-HOB Skimmer (Need advice on the top question) Reef Octopus is better choise
-HOB ref. retrofitted aqua-clear filter(have filter already)Don't use it(put on qt tank)
-150w Heater(have)ok
-3 Power heads, Trying to go for about 30-50 turn over(hydor?)fine
-Coralife compact fluorescent lighting, 65W actinic, 65W 10,000k, 2 lunar LED(have) on a timer hopefully it's at least T5HO's
-45-50lb live rocks Sounds good
-live sand? yes or no? how much?Don't need any sand, but if you do,do a couple inches
-coral, mostly soft and mushrooms OK
-2 clowns OK
-a few gobbies 1 maybe
-maybe a possum wrasse Don't know it.
-Clean up crew maybe 25 small hermits, snails, shrimp ect. Only one shrimp the rest ok.

-all other smaller necessary saltmixes, testing equipment, QT tank, eventually a RO/DI system.GET RO a QT at the beginning.
I personally like the way smaller tanks look. For my situation a smaller tank is best. 1st tank should be as bid as possible so levels stay more stable.

so my overall question is can I use a AquaC Remora Pro on this 29G or is that to big? It's ok,but not a great choice, but for free,a good start.

Thanks,
Mike
