Its funny how reef keeping and art are closely related if not the same. I don't care if you are building a dog house or paint like Rebrant. Once you complete or get close to completing a tank or anything for that matter, you step back and think why did I not do that or make that bigger or made room for this etc etc etc.

So here is my question, if you had it to do over again or your are going to build another tank what would you do. Even if it sounds crazy like digging a hole in your back yard to bury 55 gal barrels and run pipe to your 12 gallon nano cube so you don't have to change water for 3 months at a time. Or cut a sun roof in your house to pipe natural light that is pre-cool by your ac unit.

Anything from where to place the tank to eting up a lab to swab your prize seahorse to check for parasites under a microscope. What would you do if you had the time, money and know how.

I think i am at this moment doing that on two new tank builds. The 225 lps tank is going exactly as planned(unless you count timeline) and i am pleased and proud of everything about i. BUT the 90 sps tank........ i think i drilled a couople holes in a tank i had custom made with a coast to coast overflow that i think i am going to be covering up......and will be feeding the cls different than i thought......thanks to geoff............dammit :)

if you havent seen my build thread i am kind of going all out on it and cant think of any corners that are being cut.......... http://thereeftank.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72298&highlight=ready+build+thread

What's 'time' and,
seriously... 'MONEY'???? JK :)

If I had the money... I wouldn't be sitting here on the forum drooling over everyone else's coral - I'd be out buying the biggest and best for my tank. Once the tank is full... who knows, maybe get a bigger one;
probably not though. If I had the money, I'd be opening a LFS store in my town. Then I could have all the tanks and, all the corals and fish I could ever want.

You sure you would not think that if you had the money and can build anything you would loose the desire quicker? I.e I am going to build a 800 gallon tank in a custom house, you did it and you are sitting in the living room watching someone else do the maint. Would you be thinking of buying a public aquarium. If you where to ope your LFS how would you build the eco system?

I personally can't sit and build somehting without modifying it and want to make it better or in some cases like a car I like to customize it. I bet you have been into many many LFS, there has to be somehting you would do that no one else is doing.

I like things simple and organized. Change is good but, why fix it if it isn't broke? Hee Hee

I am currently looking at a 6ft section in the master bedroom. I have a few ideas for stands and hiding everything in a closet. I was even thinking of digging a 4ft deep trench in the backyard by 5ft wide and using 4inch PVC pipe snaked back and for over a 22ft section. 1 to give twice the amount of salt mix for the tank and 2 the ground n my area at 4ft star about 77 degrees. I also was thinking of putting in a sun dome on the back roof with a triangular mirror to keep sunlight on the top of the tank from a few hours after sun up to a few hours before sun down. Between the ground cooling the water and the sun heating it up may be a disaster. I uess the point is I cannot be the only person that has weird ideas that turned out to be some kind of break through. Thats why I did this thread.
