i cant see any SPS coral hurting another type of coral..only very few SPS carry toxins..most have none at all

All corals, even all SPS corals, carry toxins. They keep venom in their nematocysts, and/or toxic digestive fluids in their mesenterial filaments. They can and do use these toxins for self defence or battles over real estate. The reef top / SPS environment can be a very violent battle ground.

didnt think they could hurt a LPS or soft coral.

thanks all. It's my first real loss of anything since I set the tank up so i'm pretty grateful that everything has been going smoothly.

i had my pink birds nest fall on to my acans and the acans was eating it. killed evey bit of the BN that it touched.

I went knee first into a huge brain coral (hopefully i didn't hurt it too bad), and a couple days later my doctor is prescribing me three different antibiotics. They have toxins alright!

I had a nice acan get knocked off a ledge by a snail and fall into my open brain. Within hours the brain had killed the acan and all you could see was the skeleton.
