I managed to take some nice pics yesterday of lots of things... some Strombus eggs in serious closeup that came out good, got some shots of the tank and a few nice pics of my daughter on the lawn picking dandelions, a few nice sunsets and i put the disk in my computer and i try to transfer the files to the desktop for editing and filing and it tells me there is a write error...now my disk is unreadable and my camera says there is a format error!

is there any way to salvage these pics?

:(

seriously bummed!

Does your camera take 3.5" floppy disks evidently? Does it have an option to take the little digital cards, such as SmartMedia or CompactFlash? If so, that's a more reliable way to got.

floppies can last forever or die in a second right out of the box.

I'm in agreement with Jon...
Sorry!

Well the only thing i can think of as far as the disk goes with the write error is that theres this little switch on what i believe is the top right or top left corner that you can move, it will tell you if its on the write to disk or not write to disk i believe. As far as the format error you can put the floppy into your computer, open up my computer right click and go to properties i believe and click on format disk. This will format the disk which in turn will erase all your data on the floppy disk but make it so you can "write" more information or picture to it. If i had a floppy disk i could tell you for sure. this is based on my memory i have of a floppy. I haven't seen one for about 6 months....

hehe i havent had a floppy in god knows how long.

i am going on the assumption that your camera uses smartmedia cards or compact flash cards.

no there is no way for YOU to recover. sometimes things just happen. i've had entire photo shoots get lost somewhere in the transfer and be unreadable by the camera and the computer.. very irritating, when you just paid 1500 bucks for a photoshoot. grr..

anyway there are companies that can recover the data for you. no matter whats happened ot the disk. yo ucna soak it in your sw tank for a week and they can stil recover the data. you can formatit and they can still recover the data.

on the other hand, price is exactly what you might think it is!

i sent in 4-64 meg smartmedia cards about 2 years ago, and it cost me 2500 to recover the pictures. but they did recover 95% so i was pleased..

but if it's jsut pics of the tanks.. format the card and start over .. sorry :(
