Thats what I was hoping. In that shop today I was looking at some corals and they were all like 80-150 bucks. Even the teeny weeny baby tridachne (sp?) clams were 70 and 80 bucks. They were smaller than a percula clown.

Keep checking this BB frequently. There are many people who post frags FS/FT. Some members have so much xenia they regularly flush it cause they can't get enough people to take it off their hands. Also mushrooms are very common FS/FT items. On occasion you'll even find a nice leather of softie of some kind.

Really you should be able to fill your nano from FS/FT trade frags.

Also check out all our sponsor stores on a regular basis. Most of them sell frags for $20 - $30 and on ocassion I have been able to get a "gem" of a frag just by being in the right place at the right time.

Marine Fish also has a lot of nice frags. Many of them are acros, if you've got the light on your nano. Cappucino Bay often has frags of mushrooms and green star polyps for 15$.
I'm getting the 96 Watt Coralife Aqualight CF Hood with Quad 50/50 4 pin. Is that good enough for acros?

15 bucks would be sweet!

Cool. Thanks Charles. I certainly will keep my eyes open. I've got a ways to go before I add livestock, but I am just trying to get an idea.

Thanks

I ordered the lights, heater, and power heads Sunday night. Not sure when they are going to get here. UPS Ground. I think they have all been shipped. Just looked up the delivery date on UPS, Both should be here Monday! WOO HOO!

I think I am going to order my LR and LS from www.tbsaltwater.com

http://www.tbsaltwater.com/docrock.html

I think I have decided against the package. I am going to just grab some clean critters from the LFS when it's time. I will get my tank setup hopefully Monday, and then order the LF and LS and get this bad boy goin.

Cool, waiting is the hardest part!

TBS live rock has always looked good! I got a steal on mine....I got like 14 lbs for $30 and it is a mix of Kalini and Tongo branch! :)

You dont need the cleanup crew, just get them from the LFS, and you can get what you want!

How much live sand should I get? I want the filtration to be completely natural. My ultimate goal would be for the entire tank to be a complete ecosystem without feedings, additives, etc., although I don't know how realistic that is, I saw a post from a guy that said he hardly ever has to feed his corals, etc. because of his system. Is that possible?

I plan on doing weekly water changes for trace elements, removal of nutrients etc.

I imagine I will need a pretty thick sand bed?

I used around 10-13 lbs of sand.....I got 3lbs of Live Sand and then the rest is South Down. Dead sand will be made live with the rock and other live sand. And it will be cheaper that way!

The rock should be fine for a couple of days without lights......I mean the tanks some fish stores have the rock in have almost no lighting.... but you must have some type of water movement....if you dont have a PH forget it!

Make it out of PVC piping....drill hole every so ofter and the direction you want it to come out.....(spary front and down). The hardest part would be getting the water from the power head to the spray bar.

I might be able to come up and help you out if you need help. I am out of town this weekend, and I start summer school at Permiter from 8am-noon every day. Just let me know!

Yeah I definitely am not handy. LOL. I might need your help with that.

But for now I will just wait for all my stuff to get here. And then I will order the live rock and live sand. Patience, while frustrating is a necessity in this hobby.
