It is a flexible tube, and it has bends in it. The tube is below the water line. I thought this was the problem, but it is indeed underwater.
Going to do that today. Thanks!
Based on the suggestion, I cut out a 2" chunk of the flexible tubing going into the sock. I would say that quieted it a bit.
