hey everyone, i just got 2 mp40ws today and there pretty noisy compared to my old koralias, any idea on how to quiet them down?

Make sure they are aligned correctly!

yeah i took them apar, then messed with the wetside a little and then it finally got a little quieter. but i guess ill have to get used to an external motor

Is your spacer set correctly and the anti scratch pad set on the outside?

yeah i set it up just like how they said in the directions. its a gen2 so it already has tha 10 dollar upgrade thing

They do get a little quieter, but this is one of the reported downfalls of them... Mine is dead silent (I can't hear it with the tank tank being in wall), so I have not had to deal with any of the noisy ones.

you may have to adjust the motor a bit to get the alignment better. They have to be just right.

Mine was fairly noisy when I first set it up. After it gets settled it will quiet down a little bit. Its still noisy.....but not as bad as when I started.

well for a 100 bucks a piece i cant complain, im half tempted to resell them and make some money or trade for tunzes

but tomorrow im going to switch the glass thickness i have , i put it on 3/8' and ill try 1/4" and realign and mess with it.


this thing looked like it was going to rip my eggcrate apart on full blast lol

well its a hexagon so i just guessed the thickness, hopefully its that, because the noise is driving me crazy

haha. I set mine to the max thickness.....it doesnt vibrate at all and theres a lot less noise. It was walking with the correct thickness, and it was driving me nuts......so I put it to the next biggest one.....did the same thing.....put it on its max thickness rating.....it doesnt move at all. It hums slightly but thats about it.

Well quader and I got the MP40 sorted out only to come home an have the thing sitting on the egg crate and the motor on the floor. it went into "stall" mode and "pop" off the glass it went . It was set on 3/16th and wasn't enough suction .
FWIW those MP40's are outstanding . You could send water right over the side of the tank if your not careful. I didn't like the sound of one of them so we called the company to get it serviced. There still under warranty so back it goes "no charge" NICE !!

update : the one we sent out came back and they gave us a brand new dry side. so the pumps brand new and it dead silient now

We got them on craigs list . quader's my son .
We paid for one on Pay Pal and the guy sent it . It was ok but made alot of noise . I opted to buy the second one and that was like new. I think it was put in the water . Dry and wet side :agree: I called the manufacturer to have it repaired and they said send it back and we'll look at it.(no charge) Basically a brand new unit . It was a gamble but for once it paid off:banana:
