Hey Drew; good to see you on the board!

If you're having a hard time finding blue and red bulbs at the usual places you buy light bulbs, try a party supplies store.

Party in Drew's tank! ;)

i got my moonlight at Lowe's. it is a 7.5 watt blue party bulb. i tried all kinds of wattages, i must have 10 bulbs in my tank closet.:D this was the lowest wattage i could find. i think this gives the best simulation of moon.

for viewing go with red.

I've been playing around with LED's and I think they will work very well for that...the blue is a 470 nanometer and really lights the place up and can be run as low as 3.5 volts. The white ones show promise (I was told they are 8-9000K) they are awfully expensive right now.

I think the LED"S hold a LOT of promise for us...specially small tankers...

we'll let you kow when we get changed over and are ready for a tank party....

Oh! Since you're moving up to the 75 :) you could run those rope lights that are sold at Christmas and other holidays. Right now being the 4th of July, they'll probably have them out in red, white and blue separate ropes.
