I have a friend who wants to give me two clownfish and an anemone. I already have a black clown and am not sure if accepting is fish is going overboard. I've only had the black clown for 2 days, will it be ok to mix 2 more regular clowns into the tank? Specs below

60 Gallon tank
256 w t5ho
13 gallon sump
MarineLand 100 Protein skimmer
1 750 gph power head

70 lbs LR
40 lbs LS
1 cleaner shrimp
2 turbo snails
4 red legged crabs
4 blue

what species of clown are you talking about adding? I assume when you say a black clown, you mean a black and white ocellaris? If the new clowns are ocellaris or even percula, it "could" work but like posted above, all 3 would probably not hang out together.

I want to add just one regular clown. I'm not sure if its percula or not and neither is he.

Are the 2 orange clowns already a mated pair? If so, you would be better off to sell them as a pair to LFS or private buyer and buy yourself a juvenile ocellaris to pair up with the black one. If you have had the black one for a while, chance are she is bigger and already turning female. If the new clowns are not a pair yet, still juvenile, then take the size into consideration. The larger of the 2 new ones is most likely the female depending on age and putting that one into the tank with an already female could lead to a lot of fighting and the one in the tank now might kill the new one. Taking the smaller of the 2 new ones and putting it in the tank should cause less issues. So i have a few more questions?

How old and how big is the current black and white ocellaris?

The guy has 3 clowns, 2 are a mated pair and the other one is seperate. I was thinking about just taking the one that is seperate. My black and white is about an inch and a half. I just got it from the LFS yesterday so I am unsure of the age. Ill ask my friend about the other one and see how old his is.

Ok, you should be good to go. Your new black and white one is still a juvenile and chances are the new one you get from your friend will be either a juvenile as well or bigger. As long as you don't mind the chance of the orange one being the female (getting larger) and the black and white becoming the male.

Two clowns in a 60 will be fine as long as they aren't both female. Three clowns in a 60 is probably asking for trouble.

Thank you all for your input, I finally made a decision to get a regular clown that was a little smaller than the black and white. Ever since I put him in they have been best friends. No fighting, they just swim together. Now I'm thinking of what else I should get

Beautiful couple. If this is a young tank, you could try some harry shrooms, for the clowns to use as a host, until your tank matures. Then you could pic up a BTA for them.
