I mix up water ahead of time to always have water on hand. I read that it was good to do this. I have the SG and temp spot on. Can I now turn off the heater and mixing power head? or will this have some adverse affect on water quality? It would proably sit for a week or two before use. I realize that I will have to heat it up again before using...Thanks

I never warm the water till right before the water change, warming water to mcuh ahead of time leads to a lot of evaproation loss , evaporation loss = salinity change (however insignifigant)... I have only been reefing for about 5 months now but everything has been going fine so far, dont use a powerhead in my standby water either, I just use the heater (it is usually sitting in the bucket waiting to be turned on) to mix the water once in a while as I pass by
