I recently read an article on the possible extinction of corals from over collection, damage or natural disaster. Many of what we are trying to nuture in our tanks are now being classified as an endangered species. (see link) http://www.eoearth.org/article/Corals_as_endangered_species
Barring fragmentation as a variety of reproduction to continue the hobby of the marine aquariums shouldn't we start to be more conserative and alert all members of our 'club' to the dangers of over collection? Shouldn't we start asking the question to our suppliers, how are these collected? Maybe if we start asking the hard questions we can have something for our future.
I would just hate to see what we all do as a hobby promote the disasters from all the other non-marine activities or just to make a buck and forget sustainability.
