I've had 30lbs of LR in my 20G high since Saturday (thanks Charles!) and was wondering when to put macro algae into the HOB fuge.

Now, or will the Ammonia do away with it?

It's coming down (from "off the chart" to about 1.5ppm today), with Nitrites really high, and Nitrates at 25ppm.

I've had the sandbed (with some LS) and two small pieces of LR in the tank for two months, before I got the rest of the rock.

The three hitchhiker snails that came with the first two pieces are still alive, and we've discovered a few little feather dusters (are there bright pink/red varieties? or is this something else?), and a couple of what could be little corals, if they survive.

And what types of macro algae would be most beneficial?

Also, is anyone cultivating their own brine shrimp and can give me some advice about that?

Thanks for the offer!

Let me know when you are ready and I'll see if I can fit in a trip to Salem (or do you regularly visit Eugene by any chance?).
