Hi, I have recently set up a 10 gallon nano and it has been up for 23 days now. It has cycled, ammonia, nitrites are non-existent and the nitrates were almost undetectable. My pH levels seem low 7.8-8.0. Does it take a little while for pH to get up? I don't have any fish yet. Just a snail and some hermits and there doing great. I use R/O water. Any help would be great thanks.

Yes it can take a little while for a tank to cycle (the nitrogen cycle is just the start) and the pH level out, it can take 6-12 months far a tank to become stable.

also increased CO2 in the home can lower a tanks pH..

also pH tests kits can be way off I have had API pH kits ± 0.3!

a simple test you can do is place a glass of tank water outside for a couple hours, then test its pH, if it reads higher, then you have a build up of CO2 in the home..

Okay thanks. I have the API test as well. I will certainly try that outside trick. Would you think adding a fish would be okay now?
