Today I noticed tiny little stars on my glass, theres only about 20 of them total but they look like a tiny serpent star no bigger than 1 mm. My glass has algae all over it and I havent had time to get an algae scrubber or magfloat but if it helps that they probably eat algae then there ya go. My frogspawn and xenia look amazing so i dont think they hurt corals. I will post a picture later

Are they clear? I don't think I've ever seen an asterina or brittle star the size of 1mm. Could be though. If not, most likely hydroid jellyfish.

Are they grey and white...I've got some and others told me to get them out because they multiply like rabbits, except legs break off and grow into new stars and don't have large floppy ears. :clown:

Yes if you see legs missing those are the ones you want out. Check your zoas at night to make sure they aren't munching on those.

I don't have zoas. But they don't have any missing legs, but many on the glass especially the side glass with algaez

I'd say most likely an Asterina Star

+1 these are most likely Asterina stars, I have them anywhere from 1mm - 12mm in size and sometimes there are hundreds and sometimes I can't find any. I have tried to pick them out, but I don't think that you can every get them all manually. One the plus side, I have never seen them bother any of my Zoas or any other coral only feeding on the alga on the sides of the glass and in the sand. I have heard that if you know someone who has a Harlequin shrimp, try to borrow it for awhile. They only eat starfish and will remove these pretty quickly.

The only asterina star I've seen that small was probably a fragmentation of a leg. No definition whatsoever.

My camera cannot focus on such a small animal. On my camera it just looks like a white blur. Not asterina but they look like tiny tiny brittles idk, haven't caused harm to anything

Elton, try holding a magnifying glass over the star then taking a picture. Or you can do a DIY macro lens if you have a dead CD/DVD drive laying around.
