Hey all, have a lighting question. I might be getting a square 75 gallon (36 x 30x 16). I want to hang MH over the top but I am not sure how to do it. can I get buy with 2 bulbs or will I need 4 and what wattage with that shallow of a tank?

Personally in that setup, I would use a 250W MH lamp in a Lumenarc reflector. That should give you a nice spread since the reflector is 19.5 x 19.5 x 8.5

Or go with a 2 150W MH lamps retro setup.

so, one 250 smack dab in the middle, say 12" off the top of the water?

one light should be enough. normally i would say stick with a 175w due to the depth of the tank, but since the tank is so wide you might have to raise it up quite a bit to get full coverage so the extra wattage would be helpfull. 36" tanks are right in the middle of needing one or two bulbs.

if you want 2 than i would go with 2 175w bulbs.
