just added sand for my substrate and the water is very cloudy not as bad as last night but still cant see the other side of the tank my question is how do i get rid of the cloudiness ( i know it takes time) and should i leave my protein skimmer and power filter on to help? or should i just shut everything off ?

Leave the skimmer on. If you can, run filter socks. I always have a couple HOT magnums laying around in my extra parts box that I can throw on when I disrupt things like this.

ok but the protein skimmer keeps overflowing i have a hang on the back filter thats running right now

Well I guess that could be an issue:lol:

It may not adjust low enough to leave it on... so you may need to improvise...
