:funny: you bet! I'm going to be on vacation for a week starting Saturday, so I won't be at the meeting. I can get out tomorrow or Friday to run a trade out, since we've tried this for 3 months!! ;) I had a close friend pass away this last month so I didn't make it. (I'm starting to sound like that guy that has an excuse for everything!):funny:

Anyone else that held a trade for me just PM me your number and we can figure something out. I live in Gresham, anyone is welcome to come out or I can travel to your places too! Wish me luck in Vegas!!

Meeting trade

I have 2 of the green mushrooms that are loaded with what looks like little zooanthids, 2" to 3'' across. some GSP's at the bottom are up for grabs, too. They are the long stemmed 1's.
I also have a red mushroom rock some brown button polyps, a piece of pavona, all doing well under VHO's. Need some different zoos, like red or pink. I also have a piece of Devil's Hand, doing good under 1 set of VHO's in a 24" high tank.

brittle star

I recently got a brittle star from saltwaterfish.com and the thing is HUGE! way to big for my tank. Its roughly 6-7 inches across (2 legs)

anyone want to give him a home?! He will end up in my FOWLR Fuge otherwise.

Id take about any trade you got for him, shrooms, zoos, toadstool/hammer frag, or just about anything else :)

HI, I have a quick probably dumb question for all of you. What do you (me) do when you are first starting in the forum scene and don't feel like you have much if anything to trade. Can you (me) attend and buy? And how do you get things ready to trade? Do you frag and glue? How long do you let them grow out before trading? And last, how do I know I have anything worth trading???? Thanks in advance!! Oh, my tank has been set up for 3 yrs but was wingin it till I found all of you!!

if i was you i would do my best to attend the meeting on sunday and get to know some of the folks in person. everyone is very friendly, and you will have a ton of people to ask questions about fragging. the best part about this meeting is that it is being hosted at a saltwater shop, so fellow members will be able to show you exactly what glue to use, we will be able to show you exacly where on a coral to cut to propigate it, etc.
you can look at some of the other stuff coming in, and ask around when you see something you might like. if you have access to a digital camera and can get some photos of your stuff, people will be able to "shop" in your tank and you will be able to set up future trades for stuff from their tanks.

best of all, you will not find prices cheaper than woody's and the quality is top notch, so if you come prepared with 20 or 30 dollars, even if you can not find people with frags for sale, you will be able to get some nice stuff from him so you will not go home empty handed.

from my experience at the last 4 of these however, there is always loose stuff floating around at the end of the meeting, and those who are just starting out or who are moving towards corals for the first time are usually able to get a piece or two to get them started.

hope that helped a bit, i can answer a lot of your questions if you wanna come stand by the grill on sunday, otherwise you can pick the brain of everyone else.

never fear, there will always be someone looking for exactly what you have to trade, it is just a matter of getting something from them that you can put into your tank.

look forward to seeing you there hopefully!

Hi Sally,

trades can come in all forms. It is basically what you have to trade and what the other person wants to trade with you. Guess it can go the other way. If one does not have corals to trade, cash always works, equipment, beer, other equipment, good beer. Okay, where's Aaron. You miss you man!!!!

Frags are trade in all forms. I glue my to smaller rocks so they can grow out. Some others glue them to rocks or in some cases with softies, get them to attach, and some free form (no attachments).

The size of the frag is really depending on the person trading. When I first started trading, I brought in frags that range from 4" to a small colony. Just because I need to get rid of it. Some could be as small as a pen cap. It all depends on what the coral is and how big they cut the frags. Typically it helps if you tell the other person how big of a frag you have and they can decide and it works the other way as well.

You can put each frag in a zip lock bag or old bags that you got from LFS. It's helpful to bring bags so the other person can take the specimen home in a bag and water it lived in. Not a good idea to change water during trades. I can basically stress the frags.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the addiction

Come on up and meet everyone. The best way to broaden your knowledge and your frag contact is to come.

If you have any questions - just post them on the board and someone will get back to you, or you can PM a msg to an individual as well.

We are all in it for the peace that our little piece of the ocean brings us, to learn and expand our collections

List what you have to trade, and we can know if that is something we would be interested in. We can help with fraggin instructions if you need.

Hope to see you at the mtg

I have a reef tank and love it. I have recently become really motivated to have variety. I do only softies and its hard to get good color around my area. I am so glad to find others in the NW.

I lied:
I have the following for trade, Neon Two Tone Maze/Platygyra Brain, if you go to http://www.themarinecenter.com/corals/ and look for it, you can see a pretty close match, IMO mine is nicer looking. It needs more light than my tank has. I'm looking for LPS's or, zooanthids.
Thanks!
